Complex Numbers, Functions and Vectors
Unit 3 of Mathematics Specialist has three overarching topics. Complex numbers extends upon the work of Unit 2 by introducing the polar form. Functions and sketching graphs is used in the context of solving problems involving integration. Cartesian and vector equations are used to model motion in three dimensional space.
- 1 Complex Numbers
- 2 Functions and Sketching Graphs
- 3 Vectors in Three Dimensions
Integration, Differentiation and Statistical Inference
Unit 4 of Mathematics Specialist has three overarching topics. Differentiation and integration of functions are investigated in real world contexts, such as biological processes and kinematics. Previous knowledge of probability and statistics is extended upon with students working with distribution of sample means and confidence intervals.
- 4 Integration and Applications of Integration
- 5 Rates of Change and Differential Equations
- 6 Statistical Inference
